Lois, I can help, some with cutting and pasting and sending to the
server, if you want.

Subject: [INPCRP-L] INPCRP Update 10/30/98 from Lois
Date: Sat, 31 Oct 1998 03:12:58 +0000
From: Lois Mauk <LawOfficeInformationSystem(a)worldnet.att.net>
To: INPCRP-L(a)rootsweb.com
I've only got a few minutes, but I wanted to touch base with the group about
what I've been doing behind the scenes since Scott announced he had to
essentially leave the group due to personal commitments.
Need Help Moving INPCRP website to Rootsweb
-------------------------------------------
First, I want to let you all know that Rootsweb has graciously provided the
INPCRP with a new home on their server. Now, I need to find someone to
handle transferring the data from Scott's server (the old home) to Rootsweb.
I presume the best way to do this would be to copy Scott's pages and
graphics to one's hard drive, update the links, etc. and then FTP it to
Rootsweb's server.
Scott has advised that he will keep the old site up and running until we can
take care of the transition but I don't want to let this drag out indefinitely.
I simply have NO spare time right now (I haven't updated my own Cemetery
pages in a couple of months because of my crazy schedule) and don't expect
to have any until after 11/22/98. Anyone out there who can help me with this?
Info on website hosting on Rootsweb is available at
http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/wizards/ if you'd like to look it over
before you make a commitment to help.
A knowledge of HTML and FTP would, of course, be helpful, but not
necessarily essential. For right now, all we need is someone who can master
the mechanics of transferring the data and graphics and doing the necessary
editing re links and e-mail address on the HTML pages. Any changes deemed
necessary can wait until a somewhat later date.
INPCRP E-mail Discussion Group
- ----------------------------
Re the INPCRP e-mail discussion group, Scott has provided me with the "keys"
(i.e., the password) and, for the time being, I think I can handle the
bounces, etc. myself. I manage two other lists (PRATHER and BUSHFIELD) and
the extra load from INPCRP is negligible.
I would, however, like for someone to just jump in here and keep the
conversation going. We've got to build up a head of steam in preparation
for the 1999 Legislative session.
Need to Get Started on the Petition
-----------------------------------
Also, we need to put our proverbial heads together and draft a Petition for
circulation throughout the state for presentation to the Legislators to let
them know how the public feels about the callous disregard they have
demonstrated for the sanctity of our predecessors' graves.
Why don't you try to boil your thoughts on this subject down to a concise
paragraph, post it to the group as proposed language for the Petition and
we'll see who salutes it?
A General Plea for Help
-----------------------
Several of you were kind enough to respond to my last plea for assistance on
keeping this thing alive. I haven't got the time to look for those messages
right now, but please, feel free to jump in on any of the tasks I've
discussed above.
I really need everyone's help here. It would be a shame to see the INPCRP
die just because Scott had to give up the helm. My schedule is simply
packed to the brim and I don't have the time until after Thanksgiving to
concentrate on this important project.
Help!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,
First: Lois... How about if I transfer the INPCRP web pages to
rootsweb for you?
Second: Tomorrow is Halloween. I don't think I need to remind
anyone of what that means for our cemeteries. Another rash of
vandalized stones and general mayhem. I plan on taking the time
to patrol as many of my local cemeteries as I can... Suggest if
you pass a cemetery in your evening travels, shine a light or
take a quick pass through at least.

As he is certainly the most qualified "applicant", I've accepted
Scott's
offer to transfer the webpages from his server to Rootsweb. That is a
huge burden lifted off my sagging shoulders! Thanks, Scott.
I'll still be interested in finding someone to help me maintain the
pages, so don't think you're off the hook just yet! :-)
I want to echo Scott's warning about keeping an eye on our little
abandoned cemeteries over the weekend. It is indeed high-season for
hijinks. I, for one, will be ankle-deep in cow-poop tomorrow working at
Dietz Cemetery here in Clark Co. (I bet you're all jealous. Aren't
you?)
Later.

DEAR ANCESTOR
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

IT's time our Representatives and Senators Changed the laws to save and
preserve our pioneer cemeteries, instead of siding with the big money
organizations and thereby enabling the greedy people in destroying our
families final resting places. Where is there moral thinking???
