I've only got a few minutes, but I wanted to touch base with the group about
what I've been doing behind the scenes since Scott announced he had to
essentially leave the group due to personal commitments.
Need Help Moving INPCRP website to Rootsweb
-------------------------------------------
First, I want to let you all know that Rootsweb has graciously provided the
INPCRP with a new home on their server. Now, I need to find someone to
handle transferring the data from Scott's server (the old home) to Rootsweb.
I presume the best way to do this would be to copy Scott's pages and
graphics to one's hard drive, update the links, etc. and then FTP it to
Rootsweb's server.
Scott has advised that he will keep the old site up and running until we can
take care of the transition but I don't want to let this drag out indefinitely.
I simply have NO spare time right now (I haven't updated my own Cemetery
pages in a couple of months because of my crazy schedule) and don't expect
to have any until after 11/22/98. Anyone out there who can help me with this?
Info on website hosting on Rootsweb is available at
http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/wizards/ if you'd like to look it over
before you make a commitment to help.
A knowledge of HTML and FTP would, of course, be helpful, but not
necessarily essential. For right now, all we need is someone who can master
the mechanics of transferring the data and graphics and doing the necessary
editing re links and e-mail address on the HTML pages. Any changes deemed
necessary can wait until a somewhat later date.
INPCRP E-mail Discussion Group
- ----------------------------
Re the INPCRP e-mail discussion group, Scott has provided me with the "keys"
(i.e., the password) and, for the time being, I think I can handle the
bounces, etc. myself. I manage two other lists (PRATHER and BUSHFIELD) and
the extra load from INPCRP is negligible.
I would, however, like for someone to just jump in here and keep the
conversation going. We've got to build up a head of steam in preparation
for the 1999 Legislative session.
Need to Get Started on the Petition
-----------------------------------
Also, we need to put our proverbial heads together and draft a Petition for
circulation throughout the state for presentation to the Legislators to let
them know how the public feels about the callous disregard they have
demonstrated for the sanctity of our predecessors' graves.
Why don't you try to boil your thoughts on this subject down to a concise
paragraph, post it to the group as proposed language for the Petition and
we'll see who salutes it?
A General Plea for Help
-----------------------
Several of you were kind enough to respond to my last plea for assistance on
keeping this thing alive. I haven't got the time to look for those messages
right now, but please, feel free to jump in on any of the tasks I've
discussed above.
I really need everyone's help here. It would be a shame to see the INPCRP
die just because Scott had to give up the helm. My schedule is simply
packed to the brim and I don't have the time until after Thanksgiving to
concentrate on this important project.
Help!!!!!!!
