Any of you that live in the area or can/will be in the area this coming
weekend are invited to join us for the April meeting of the Clark County
Cemetery
Preservation Committee on SATURDAY, 4/3/99 at 2 PM at the Jeffersonville
Library. We'll be meeting in the small conference room downstairs.
Be thinking of what Jeffersonville Township cemeteries you'd like to visit
after the meeting. We have a lot to choose from!
I'm going to try to contact the caretakers at Walnut Ridge Cemetery about
visiting
the old section of the cemetery and also to talk with them about the data
entry project they have undertaken to catalog the burial records they have.
Maybe they can join us at the meeting.
Also, I've asked Sen. Jim Lewis to join us for a few minutes on Saturday.
He is one of the Senate sponsors of House Bill 1522, the only one of 10
bills to survive the 1999 General Assembly session. HB 1522 is set for a
second reading before the Senate on Monday, March 29th. When it passes the
Senate, it will have to return to the House for ratification as it was
amended by the Senate.
This is a critical stage for HB 1522 as it can easily be killed if the House
is displeased with the changes made by the Senate. See
http://www.rootsweb.com/~inpcrp for detailed information on HB 1522.
