Susanne Wirth has nominated Waveland Cemetery in Montgomery Co., IN to the
INPCRP Hall of Shame and I've added it to the list at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~inpcrp/hallofshame.html
Susanne also reports: "We are thrilled with the work we see progressing on
the Pisgah or Mt. Pisgah cemetery in Putnam County, southwest of
Russellville and in that township. In June 1998 it was overgrown with
brush, only the perimeters being mowed by farm type mowers. You could not
walk into the interior. Last March, 1999, the brush was dead, but the
stones had heaved out of the earth in large numbers. They were dreadful to
behold! This past week, we found the brush all gone, mowed, stones replaced
in the ground, the broken ones piled with their pieces altogether in piles.
My cousin, George W. Spencer of Waveland, Indiana told us that someone was
working on that cemetery, and it really shows."
Does anyone on the INPCRP have any knowledge about clean-up work at this
second site?

In Montgomery County is the Waveland cemetery, called Methodist, but
not
really sponsored by any organization. It lies behind the abandoned
Methodist
Church across the street from the Waveland Library.
My gggrandmother is buried under a now broken stone. Beside her lies her
infant grandson whose stone is also broken. The records of this cemetery
are
lost, burned or just forgotten. Many graves are no longer marked.
The
grass
is cut, but that is all the "care" it seems to get.
My cousin and I wish to repair our ancestral mother's stone and lay a new
stone commemorating her life and her family. Without her, we would not
be...
No one in Waveland can tell us who maintains the cemetery, and it is so
forlorn. It is right in the middle of the very small town.
