"Columbus man arrested in gravesite thefts"

After a 7-month police investigation, Craig T. Smith, 32, of Columbus, IN, has
been charged in the theft of a decorative urn from former President Benjamin
Harrison's grave at Crown Hill Cem. in Indianapolis and has confessed to
having stolen 40 to 50 urns from Indiana cemetery and selling them for $200 to
$300 each.
He is being held on $90,000 bond after being arrested Friday for three counts
of receiving stolen property. He was also charged in the case of a second
stolen urn from a cemetery in Columbus and the theft of a communion table from
a Catholic church in Blakeslee, Ohio.
The affected cemeteries appear to be in Columbus, Indianapolis, Seymour,
Rising Sun, Versailles and Madison.
