Of concern...
Any stones embedded in concrete for preservation should be be placed on a
slant so the water can properly drain from the face of the stone.
Otherwise, the contracting and expanding with heat and cold does much
damage!

Lois Mauk, myself and another of the Clark Co. Cemetery group went to
a
Cemetery in Clark Co. Ind. near Bethlehem Ind. last winter, and someone
had
taken ALL stones that did not have a definite resting place, and on
the
out
side edge of the Cemetery, poured a concrete pad and placed a Plaque
in
front
of it, stating these stone were placed here for lack of anywhere else
to
go.
I do not know if they were duplicates, or just misplaced. But all
were
placed on the concrete slab face up next to each other. By doing this if
a
stone came up missing at gravesite, it would be somewhere on the
slab.
By
pouring concrete and laying them face up, anyone looking could
probably
find
it here. And no grass could grow around them. Maintenance free. I
thought
this was a great Idea, this way they all had a home together, and you
could
see if the one you were looking for that was missing was in the cemetery.
Just a thought, Jack Briles
