One caution with this type of monuments: The hollow interior is a
favorite place for bees and hornets. Use caution if you need to do any
work around these monuments.

I have enjoyed this so much on this snowy day.. now I have knowledge
of
the
'strange, stove-like stones' one in our area is lying on the ground,
only the anterior part there and the panel missing.. seems as tho the
person
cracked their way out and took off...... no ill respect intended......Ruth

All of the white bronze markers in La Porte County have been photographed
and are posted on the La Porte County Library site (
www.lapcat.org) When
you bring that site up, scroll down and click on "open the catelog in a
new
window." Then click on "Local History & Genealogy," then click on
"Gravestone Markers." You will then have reached the site of photos of
not only
the white bronze markers but all of the tree stump markers in La Porte
County. There is a total of 81 of these in La Porte County; Pine Lake
Cemetery
has 18 and Door Village Cemetery is close behind with 17. The others are
scattered throughout the county with only one being in several of the
cemeteries.
