No, the county wasn't taxing itself. The county refuses to acknowledged the
law that was enacted in 1872 that vested title to the cemeteries, used by
the public, in the public name. In the unincorporated areas of a county
that ownership and the authority for the management and control was
established as the Board of Supervisors. 130 years later they still don't
get it.
It's amazing that our laws are such that when written they can't just be
followed, but rather must be interpreted by a court of law at the expense of
the individual. We've been gathering funds to launch our legal battle(s)
for some time now. It's a fairly expensive venture.
