Wow, strange post lately!
On a very serious note and a plea to all on this list. I suggest a discussion on the topic
of what exactly we expect from workshops.
The funding has become available through the DNR, Indiana Historical Society, and the
DHPA. Time has come when groups like these are willing to help folks like us on our quest
to right some wrongs and preserve our heritage.
I believe we the "INPCRP" people are the ones to set the education programs in
motion.
Maybe I jumped a little quick a few years back. I was just sharing the methods I had
picked up from my work with the AGS. I was excited about the MASTICO and the things we
could all share and teach each other about tombstone restoration. It was somewhat
overwhelming at times. I started seeing that the stones we were restoring were not looking
so good a few years later. Some epoxies change colors due to ultraviolet rays. We now know
of other epoxies and other mortars. So you see, this is still so experimental.
All of us on this list have learned from each other. We should know best how to restart
an educational program that would be in the best interest to the Indiana Pioneer Cemetery
Restoration Project we all support.
Let us pull our positive thoughts together and help each other accomplish a worthwhile
goal.
Peace !
Walt
