Don't ask for money
from the county at first. They will balk. Start out by working with
volunteers, applying for grants and asking for donations. The county will
have a hard time saying no to something that requires no money from them
and
gets the cemeteries restored in the meantime.
Angela,
NTFCANNON(a)aol.com, Tom Cannon the New Albany Township Trustee, talked with
me on the Phone this afternoon (Wed) and he is proposing a novel idea in my
opinion. I don't know where he got the Idea, but he is going before the Board
that supplies the money for him, he is now Drafting a Request to use the
Accrued (Daily) Interest from his annual Budget to use exclusively for
cemetery Restoration. No excess money above what he gets now for cemeteries
would come from the county, it would come from the Interest on the 3/4 of a
Million dollar a year budget (Now) If his Budget should go up, so would the
interest to be used only for the cemeteries.
They would not have to increase his cemetery budget. I don't know if this
sounds logical or not, but I told him it sounded good to me. Right now the
interest is Discretionary money. We never had time to talk about how much
this would be, but it sure wont hurt. Are we wrong in going in this
direction.?? Tom and I would accept suggestions. Are there any other
Trustees out there doing this,?? or have discussed doing it. ?? Good Idea
or not??
