monument
I passed a graveyard way out in the country and noticed that one of the
two
identical monolithes (insert your own particular description here) is
steadily leaning over (more so since 1989) and will eventually topple
over near or on the grave itself.
Renting a crane is out of the question as
I have to use the equipment at hand. My
20 foot tripod and 3 ton chain hoist is way
too little. I am pondering two options :
Securing the monument and slightly trenching on the sinking side to
place an
I" beam and using a hydraulic jack or spreader on top and push it up.
This being unpleasant due to actually digging where I don't feel
comfortable, and hoping at the same time all the pieces of said monument
don't fall and pound me into the ground.
Putting two 6x6 posts on the sinking side
strapping them to bottom portion and winching from the top to raise.
Using a
truck winch has its hazards too.
I have gawked at this thing for years and naturally its not getting any
better. I can't unstack the various pieces as they are individually
heavier than what I can reasonably move.
Anybody got any ideas ??
