On my way back from Kokomo, where the IGS Annual Meeting was held Saturday,
I decided to spend some time cemetery hunting. I want to see if my
directions to the cemeteries are correct.
Note to myself: remind people to check which road they are on every so
often. I was on 750W, and the next thing I knew, I was on 765W. I had to
go back east to stay on 750W. Easy to get lost this way! Also found the
problem of signs missing at intersections, but I saw the cemetery just as
soon as I'd missed my turn.
I was going along a road looking for a cemetery that was listed as being
about 520W behind a house north of the road. Went past a house with number
49xx on the mailbox. The next house was 53xx. So I turned around and went
back. Didn't see a house or lane, just woods on the north side of the road
with several clearings. After I turned around again to head back my
original direction, I was looking into the woods. I saw the prettiest
site. In one of the clearings, there were daffodils planted in a cross
shape on a gentle rise. I am going to assume this was the site of the Twin
Springs cemetery. If I had been there anytime but in the spring, I'd have
never seen the flowers. They were past blooming, but the plants were still
taller than the surrounding grass. It just made me feel good. Just wish I
hadn't forgotten my camera.
