Hello. I wanted to give an update about HB 1441 the Cemetery Maintenance Bill. I talked
with Rep. Tom Saunders this evening. He said the Chairman of the Agriculture, Natural
Resources and Rural Development Committee, Rep. Bob Bischoff, will not hear the bill. His
reason was that they didn't have time to hear it and that Rep. Bischoff did not
support the $3 increase in the death certificates. Tom asked him not to kill the whole
bill just because of the $3 increase, but Mr. Bischoff still said he wouldn't hear
it.
So I would suggest that if anyone on this list is a constituent of Rep. Bischoff to please
CALL him and explain to him why this bill is important. His district is in the
Lawrenceburg area.
Here is a list of those on the committee:
Rep. Bob Bischoff - Chairman
Rep. Terry Goodin - Vice
Rep. Richard Mangus
Rep. Alan Chowing
Rep. Bill Friend
Rep. Bob Hoffman
Rep. Don Lehe
Rep. Paul Robertson
Rep. Eric Koch
Rep. John Ulmer
Rep. Markt Lytle
Rep. James Bottorff
Rep. Dale Grubb
Rep. Ronald Liggett
If any of these folks on this committee is in your district, please contact them! Also
Rep. Tiny Adams is the co-author of HB1441. Since both Tiny Adams and Bob Bischoff are
democrats, it might do some good to contact Rep. Adams as well. Also Rep. Matt Pierce is
backing HB1441 so it wouldn't hurt to contact him too; and what about Markt Lytle?
Tom said he has not given up on changing Rep. Bischoff's mind. Tom also thought that
they wouldn't hear HB1097, what I call the "artifact bill". I did let Tom
know my concerns over the definition of an artifact and how this might affect us who are
trying to restore and preserve our pioneer cemeteries.
It looks like I am not receiving my e-mail again, but I am able to e-mail out. Once it is
fixed, again, I will answer any questions you might have. Sorry about this inconvenience
to those of you who have questions and comments about HB1441. (Donna, Theresa and Bud:
maybe you can answer their questions?)
Sincerely,
Angela Tielking

Quote from William Gladstone (1809-1897), three-time Prime Minister of
England
and Victorian contemporary of Benjamin Disraeli:
"Show me the manner in which a nation or community
cares for its dead and I will measure with mathematical
exactness the tender mercies of its people, their
respect for the laws of the land, and their loyalty
to high ideals."
