I think the whole intention here is because they do have a vested interest.
Since the township trustees would still be responsible by law for cemetery
care and maintenance, this would give them representation on the county
commission, albeit through only one of them. I think that is only fair, and this
provision in the statute is good PR as well as hopefully will garner support from
the trustees to support this legislation. My local cemetery board amended the
bylaws a few years ago making the township trustee a member of the cemetery
board since she pays for 75% of the caretaker expense. That's the best move we
ever made.... I believe the county ordinance for the Newton County Cemetery
Commission included township representation as well. My 10 township trustees
have a county trustee association where they meet a few times a year. In our
case, they would be the ones to make the recommendation as to which trustee
would serve.

Very good point. Here in Henry County we are lucky to have 2 trustees on
the commission
(and have trouble with some of other 11 maintaining their
cemeteries..........)

>I question the part where "a trustee" is supposed to be a member of the
cemetery commission, or designate someone to represent them.
>Which trustee would it be, every county has a number of trustees and how
would you select one that is really interested and willing to give time to
the commission?
>It would also seem they would be a person with a "vested interest" in one
particular county when it comes time for the commission to appropriate
cemetery funding for maintenance and restoration.
