Hi Greg,
The 4-H girl is Kelsey True. Her mom, Cindy, and I talked last night. She is
going to give us copies of the photos so we can try and do the restoration
from those. How invaluable!
I wanted to make a plea to everyone: if you do go by the cemetery, PLEASE do
not move the stones or try and put them back upright. We had a family last
night try and do just that. First of all, it is dangerous; secondly we need
to secure the stones with the proper materials. I know most, if not all, of
you on this list know this, but I would rather mention it and be safe than
sorry.
Thanks for everyone's support.

Good Morning,
I saw the news also. I heard the words "Green Township Trustee". This
was in Hancock County and it made me look, since I am the Green Township
Trustee in Madison County.
The newscaster was interviewing the lady Trustee and it appears a young
4-H girl had this cemetery as her Geneology project last year in hancock
County 4-H Clubs. Fortunately she has nice scrapbook and photos so the
repair folks can tell what goes where.
I made me sick at my stomach. What a mess. They did say it had stones
damaged where Civil War Veterans were buried.
Over 60 stones were upset and broken, they said.
What a disregard for the families of those loved ones of those buried
there, not to mention those gone before us.
I believe this is the one people have thought was in my township
(Green), but just South of mine in Hancock.
If it is the one, it is on 575W and 1000 or 1100N.
I will be looking there tonight after work.
Hope the nuts are apprehended and have to pay for damages.
Have a good day,
Greg Valentine
Green Township Trustee
Madison County

I saw the news on the 10:00 news that Channel 8 runs on cable channel 10
in
Carmel. I have ancesters in this cemetery, Olvey Cemetery. It has been
vandelized in the past on more than one occasion. It is a fairly large
cemetery but is
in the country. Channel 8 had good coverage and there was extensive
toppling
of stones.
