Dear Jack:
That is SUCH EXCITING NEWS!!! I can hardly believe one has been spared!
Good luck with your newspaper interview tomorrow. I'm very excited about it
and just thrilled that the New Albany Township Trustee is such a stand-up
fellow!

Lois, and the List,
This morning I went to The New Albany Twp. Trustees office to see
about him signing up. He read everything and agreed something needed to be
done. He had Personally joined up with Descendants of some buried in Slate
Run Cemetery in New Albany, and located a minister in Texas who had rights
to
the property. The Minister gladly signed it over to a 5 person
committee
who
had a Deed drawn up and signed it over to the Trustee. He in effect
told
Kohl
Dept. Store (Who wanted to go thru it) it is maintained and they can
go to
(Another Area) for their rd. They gave up.!!! We talked an hour and a
half.
I went to the Auditors office to look up Deeds. He came in 1/2 hour
later
and
said to be in his office at 10 o'clock Tuesday. He had just
talked to a
Reporter for The Louisville Courier Newspaper and he will be there at
10:15
to get the story. The Reporter said a mass drive to try to influence
the
changing of Laws concerning the removal of Pioneer cemeteries should make
a
Good human interest story, And he said it should get people fired up
over
the
way it is handled now. And hopefully bring out some signers. My name
and
Phone number, and the Trustees will be in the story indicating how they
can
sign up. I am handing out forms to responsible people who are going
to get
signatures, then mail them in. Some made extra copies. It looks like once
people know what is happening, they are eager to sign. Most say, I had no
Idea this could be done, My response, welcome to the Real World. I have
told
2 people how to down load the Petition, print and sign it. They are
from
Kentucky with Ancestors buried in Indiana If anyone has any
objections
to what I have did or said, please let me know. I personaly want this
to
make
a big stride in the present Laws. They are to easy.
Respectfully, Jack E. Briles Sr.
