Jack,
Thank you for following our efforts on HB1441, the Cemetery Maintenance
Bill. The list has been so quiet, that I did not know if the group agreed
with this bill or not. Several of us worked very hard on it, and we think we
have a good bill with HB1441. But......it does no good if it will not be
heard.
FYI, I received letters from Rep. Tiny Adams and Sen. James Lewis, who is
Minority Caucus chairman. Sen. Lewis agrees with our position on our
cemeteris and agreed with my comments in an e-mail (with pictures) that I
sent to just about everyone in the legislature. He said in the future he
would "be glad to support legislation on this matter". He also said that due
to the short session, the General Assembly was to "handle budgetary matters
and emergency situations".
Rep. Adams, who co-authored HB1441, also sent me a letter stating he was
sorry it was not heard this year, and hoped to see it "revived" in the 2005
session.
I also received a personal e-mail from Sen. Beverly Gard who sent words of
encouragement to not give up.
I also received an "e-mail letter" from Gov. Kernan. I think it is a generic
letter just thanking me for my input.
The response I have received has been positive so my hopes have been raised
for the 2005 session.
Just keep contacting your representatives and let them know how important
our cemeteries are for us and our State, then they can no longer ignore the
problems.
I am glad to hear you are feeling better and in good spirits. We just gotta
keep on doing what we are doing.
Yes, I have been working on my family's genealogy, hence how I became
involved in our cemeteries. Although, I have not been able to work on the
genealogy for some time (cemeteries are a full-time job!). My 5th-great
Grandmother is Rosanna Wilhoit from the Germanna Colony. So I am sure
somewhere down the line we are distant cousins. I will e-mail you privately
with the information - most likely tomorrow .
I apologize for not responding earlier to your e-mail. I have been away from
my mail for a while.
Talk with you soon,
Angela

Angela,
I'm following your efforts on H. B. 1441. There is nothing I can add to
what
others, including your self are saying, so I am staying quiet. I will
send
an
E-mail to the legislature if and when it comes time. I have not quit
on
cemeteries, I have only slowed down since I got over my heart valve
replacement
that was performed. (Cut your Heart open, go inside and put in a
metal
valve)
About the time I had recuperated the weather had turned bad. I am
going to
start
over in the spring as determined as ever.
Since I am staying inside, I am working on my family Genealogy,
The
Surnames, besides BREUEL, BROIL, BROYLES, BRYLES, and last but not
least
BRILES. I wondered if you said you were a descendant of the WILHITES, or
WILHOITS.
If so there is no doubt if I went forward down to now I would find we
are
branches on the same tree.
I have found as many, or more of the above spellings related to my
descendant Johannas BREUEL than there are BRILES. A lot of WILHITES,
WILHOITS
settled particularly heavy in MONTGOMERY CO. INDIANA and Clay Co..
Illinois.
I don't know if, or who you are related to, but Central Indiana
on North
was
very heavily settled by them. Have you ever worked on your Genealogy.
If
so
have you had any luck. I have 7,469 names as of right now. This
includes
our
family names as well as those who married the women and all of the
children.
Would you know your GGGGrandfather's name. I would like to see if
I have
it. I
don't have all of the WILHITES, there are to many. My computer
already
says I
have 568 pages to print out now. I am still going, I don't guess
I'll
ever quit
in this lifetime. Okay, sorry to be so long, when I get started I
can't
Quit.
Good Luck on the Bill, I'm with you.
Sincerely, A possible cousin (All Descendants in our family claim to be
Cousins)
Jack

THIS IS A CEMETERY -----
"Lives are commemorated - deaths are recorded - families
are reunited - memories are made tangible - and love is
undisguised. This is a cemetery.
"Communities accord respect, families bestow reverence,
historians seek information and our heritage is thereby enriched.
"Testimonies of devotion, pride and remembrance are carved
in stone to pay warm tribute to accomplishments and to the life -
not the death - of a loved one. The cemetery is homeland for family
memorials that are a sustaining source of comfort to the living.
"A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of
yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery
exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always."
