Hi all,
I wanted to "update" everyone who is interested in the Hancock Co. proposed
cemetery commission board for the county.
I spoke with one of the commissioners, Jack Heiden, on Monday. He was on vacation when I
gave my proposal. He is a supporter of the cem. comm. board. I handed each commissioner a
report/proposal. (There are 3 commissioners for Hancock) I left one on Jack's desk for
him to look over when he returned from vacation. He told me when he got back to work on
Monday, there were 3 of my reports on his desk. Meaning the other two commissioners put
their copies on his desk. I take this to mean the decision has already been made = No.
Jack and I discussed a survey to be put in the local paper regarding the county's
cemeteries. Once the survey results are in (hopefully in support of a cem. comm. board),
Jack will make a motion to the other two commissioners to create a cem. board.
Robin Ropke had a great idea. He said we should get some posters posted around the county
with a 1800's picture of a woman and baby or family, etc... and say something about
what they did for the county, etc.. and below show a neglected pioneer cemetery and say
" and this is how we repay them".
Also, Mr. Kleiman said he has received zero calls on the cemetery issue. Because he
won't return the calls! One lady said she has tried a couple of times and left
messages with Kleiman and Apple and they have not returned her calls. Hmmmm.
Two people did write letters to the editor concerning the cemetery issue (and were in
favor) and were published this week.
Just wanted to let everyone know what was going on.
