Good point, Sandy! My husband brought up the point at the commissioner's
meeting that if they continue to ignore the problem, the restoration of the
cemeteries would cost the county and trustees more because of the neglect.
They didn't even blink an eye. I really don't think they care. I have called
and e-mailed everyone I know who would possibly call or write the
commissioners or write the editor of the paper. Mr. Kleiman (a commissioner)
said he has received zero calls, well, now I hope he is bombarded with them!
Thanks,
Angela

While you're at it, I seem to recall back a couple of months ago
when
there was a posting to this list about the desecration of Hays cemetery.
I also recall a conversation where the sheriff's office related that they
did not like to patrol out there. Don't the taxpayers pay for that? If
they don't want to perform their duties, why should the tax monies paid by
people living in the rural areas go for crime patrol in the cities? If
the sheriff rarely patrols out in the rural areas, what is the money going
for?
Also, if the people have to wait around for 4 years until new trustees are
elected, you take your chances on what their positions will be, and that's
4 more years for the total destruction of these burial sites to occur.
Enough. This entire topic makes me really ticked!. Good Luck.

THIS IS A CEMETERY -----
"Lives are commemorated - deaths are recorded - families
are reunited - memories are made tangible - and love is
undisguised. This is a cemetery.
"Communities accord respect, families bestow reverence,
historians seek information and our heritage is thereby enriched.
"Testimonies of devotion, pride and remembrance are carved
in stone to pay warm tribute to accomplishments and to the life -
not the death - of a loved one. The cemetery is homeland for family
memorials that are a sustaining source of comfort to the living.
"A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of
yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery
exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always."
