I actually thought that in a workshop with Jim and Minxie Fannin, they talked about using
TSP. But I looked in my materials from them, and the only four things they advocated
using were 1) soap and water, 2) Orvus soap, 3) Kodak Photo-Flo, and 4) one part ammonia
to four parts water (rinsing really well afterward).

Get a tub to soak it in the ammonia and water solution.
It help me with the burnt tombstones.
I'm not one to put the limits of other products.
Not that new ones can't be found.

A nylon brush on power drill has helped a little. It still has a long
way to
go. If anyone has any ideas please share.

T.S.P. is probably a no-no, but the painters at work say it's one of the few
things that will get dried paint out of the $30 brushes. What do you think?
Maybe applying it as a paste on a cotton cloth wrapped around the stone and
keeping it wet. Maybe ammonia will loosen the paint also. Bob
