The name on the stone looks like DEMOFF to me. If it was DEMOTT I think the
"T" would not be that close to the "O". I have DeMott's in my
family, like
Ruth Pride, and they are down in Southport, and Johnson County but I can't
come up with one photo of a DeMott stone that is similar to the way your
stone is cut. Would like to see a close up of the last name if possible.
