I have the following information for folks interested in what the Indiana
Senate Committee does with the bill.
As I understand it the subcommittee of the Committee met and decided to
have the staff prepare amendments that will eliminate the special
"disclosure" form that was in the original bill. That seemed to satisfy
some concerns among the Committee.
There is still supposed to be a requirement that a cemetery is to be
listed on a deed, but one line of thinking is that deed information is
"less visible" (to land buyers) than a discolosure statement, and so less
opportunity to educate the buyers of the legal requirements about
protection of cemeteries.
The Committee on Corrections, Criminal and Civil Procedures
will meet Wednesday, February 23, 130PM, Room 233 to consider the
amendments and hopefully vote the bill out of Committee.
The plan is for there to be no testimony; just discussion among committee
members and sponsors. Hence, I see no need to go at this point.
I will pass on what I here about the Wednesday's results, and the next??
steps.
