We had the pleasure of spending today with Jeannie Regan-Dinius, the person
with the newly-created job of creating the Indiana Department of Natural
Resources' new Cemetery Registry.
Jeannie came down here to the hinterlands of Southern Indiana and 8 members of
the Clark County Cemetery Preservation Committee met with her this morning.
After a really icky, dreary morning (which we wisely spend indoors), the sun
broke through about noon and we promptly hit the streets to visit a few Clark
Co. cemeteries.
With Jeannie's permission, I have PDFed the *DRAFT* "Cemetery Registry Survey
Form" that she has prepared. Jeannie is inviting all of you to download the
form, review it and let her know your comments about its CONTENT. This is a
perfect opportunity for us to have some input into the types of information
Jeannie hopes to eventually accumulate on Indiana's thousands of cemeteries.
Do you see anything missing from the form that you feel would be a great
importance in creating this database? If so, now is the time to let Jeannie
know about your thoughts.
Jeannie is completely realistic in realizing that she is not going to collect
all of this information on any particular cemetery at this early stage of the
game; however, the fields on the form are there to represent the specific
information she eventually HOPES to accumulate on these sites.
Please download the survey form in PDF format (you WILL need the free Adobe
Acrobat READER available from
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html in order to open this
file) from the INPCRP website at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~inpcrp/DRAFTSurveyForm.PDF
[That URL is *CASE SENSITIVE*.]
This form is on the website, but it is NOT linked from anywhere on the INPCRP
website. I am making it available to you in this DRAFT form so you can
communicate with Jeannie about your thoughts on the form.
The form is 4 pages long. Jeannie has included here several pages of
directions which we also ask that you review. The PDF file is only 442KB
long.
Of course, you are welcome to post your comments here on the INPCRP group, but
if you would like to direct your remarks privately to Jeannie, her e-mail
address is:
