Jon,
As usual with all cases of vandalism, enforcement only occurs if they're
caught. Not just related to veterans, but in California the punishment is
only up to one year in the county jail or state prison, but I can't recall a
single case where that has happened. Usually these bleeding heart judges
just slap them on the hand and mete out community service. Just once I'd
like to see the little jerks jailed!
By the way, in 1854, California's laws provided that you went to prison for
10 years for messing with a cemetery. How far progress has brought us!

Sue:
Any information would be appreciated. I am going to be with my local
congressman this evening and I will certainly inquire, but we have had
numerous acts of vandalism to veteran's graves and others through the
years
and no one seems to get to excited about it. In general, our laws are
pretty
unenforceable.
I can pass on what ever you have on federal protection of veteran's stones
and of course, graves.
