If a mortgage company repos a house or an auto dealer a car, they can
re-sell it to attempt to recoup what is owed. How do you re-sell a stone
with names & dates on it? File a lien against the estate, sue the
descendants, collect in advance, all legitimate business
considerations. What is the "used" stone worth? It's pointless to remove
it. Heartless, arrogant, supercilious, distainful, pompous, anything but
business-like. And, I would think the equipment and labor to remove it
would almost equal the $100 that is owed. Write it off as a business loss
(tax deductible) and forget it.

the person in charge of the cemetery, with funding, associated

monument company having to consider removing a standing gravestone, not very
old, due to non payment of the bill for the stone,,,they have exhausted all
avenues in collecting the $100.(which is about half the initial
charge).....they said they had done this in one other instance and were told
they were heartless, but they feel they have to operate as a business....Ruth

Quote from William Gladstone (1809-1897), three-time Prime Minister of England
and Victorian contemporary of Benjamin Disraeli:
"Show me the manner in which a nation or community
cares for its dead and I will measure with mathematical
exactness the tender mercies of its people, their
respect for the laws of the land, and their loyalty
to high ideals."
