Hi Jack,
Yep, we sure do work out in the cemeteries. Board members of the Hancock Co.
Cem. Comm and I. are not compensated and have spent our own money on the
cemeteries. We did not have public support until recently so it was just us
working out in the cemetery. We now have about five citizens interested in
what we are doing (with only one actually helping us in the cemetery). Yeah,
only five, but every little bit helps. We were actually out in the cemetery
this last Sat. when it was cold and raining with Walt and Micki trying to
finish a project.
Henry Co.has the help of inmates and especially Bud Bush who coordinates the
work days. We usually have a work day scheduled every weekend until recently
due to weather.
We are working our butts off trying to repair and clean decades, if not
centuries, of neglect. It takes time. It didn't happen overnight, it will
not be fixed overnight.
Hang in their Jack. You have got to stay positive. I know it is hard to do
with everything you have been through. Even though you think you are not
making a difference, you are. Keep fighting because we are winning.
God bless,
Angela

This sounds just like the bright idea of paying $700 - $800 to
Survey
a
cemetery on your property and fence off an acre for a cemetery and
not
paying
but a dollar a year for the privelage of fencing it off. They did
drop the
idea
of posting it with signs.
By the way, how far did that idea get. I can tell you, not ONE
person
signed up. Wait and see what happens on this new brainchild. The
only
thing
that will happen is it will cost $ 3.00 more to die and prove it. My
estimate
is $ .90 will go to everything except what needs the money, the
cemeteries.
Hell, in politics, if a dime on the dollar goes where it's
supposed to, I
guess
that's not to bad. Incidentaly, does the people on the cemetery
commissions
actualy work on the cemeteries. Not knocking anyone, I would just
like to
know.
And by the way, the hills down here in Floyd and Harrison Counties
don't
tax
for more than a dollar an acre. Ha,Ha.
