I am wondering, is this a Military Marker? If so, talk to the
local county Veterans' Service Officer. It may be possible to order
a replacement marker if the information is wrong.
But, like L.A, I am also wondering if you are positive that you have
the correct date, or even the correct burial? I, too, have seen
Revolutionary War Patriot markers ordered with wrong dates, and also
know of one set in the wrong location. (same name, different person)

I doubt anyone is going to pay to replace your stone. I've seen

So I'm guessing if you want it replaced it will be your expense. Or for
you to raise the funds somehow.
You should probably check multiple sources to make sure the records
compare.
As a family researcher, I know you can find many dates that conflict on
documents.
So how do you know which date is correct?? I'm sure you will figure
out something.
I fixed a Rev. War Soldiers stone and the local societies placed a new
stone for him.
Even with the photo and research they had, someone put the wrong year on
it.

somebody inscribed on it the wrong Civil War unit. The unit on the
stone is not correct because that's the unit my ggg grandfather,
John Berkheiser, served in. I have the pension file and papers to
verify this fact. My ggg grandfather isn't buried in St. Joseph
Co. He's buried in Weasaw Cemetery in Miami Co., IN. Jonathan and
John were born in the same area of Schuylkill Co., PA. Jonathan
was born in 1836 and my John in 1821.

did not serve in that partricular unit BUT I have been unable to
determine whether or not he really did serve in the Civil War. My
ggg grandfather John Berkheiser is the only one I've been able to
find a Civil War Pension file for. I found this one because I was
trying to confirm Jonathan's Civil War service. I hired a
professional genealogist to do the lookups at the National Archives
in Washington, DC. It was cheaper and it was better and faster service. :-)
