Thanks, Tom....rarely do I get anyone who will publicly agree with me!! :)
And as far as township trustees go...we have a wonderful group of them here
in Newton County. That has not always been the case, but in the last five
years or so, I've had to appoint two new ones to fill a vacancy and both of
them have taken the initiative to do a tremendous amount of work on their
cemeteries. On the other hand, they have nothing else to do...very little or
no poor relief claims, and they only contract for fire protection and don't
have to operate a fire department. I know first hand that I'm lucky, as I've
dealt with another trustee in another county that is not so willing to 'go
that extra mile'. (right, EUB?) And her father, uncle, and grandfather were
all undertakers and her dad served on a different cemetery's association for
many many years...gee, Bud, did I give that away so that people would know
who I'm talking about?
