This cemetery is near to my heart as I have been there often. The kids in the article go
to my school. I always tell everyone that this is the most peaceful cemetery I've
been to. It's calm, quiet, and the light filters beautifully through the trees. I
still do not understand what kind of thrill anyone could get from vandalizing a cemetery.
I really, really hoped that after all the projects I've led with kids from the school
that I wouldn't see any vandalism in the area. Maybe they were older than the
students I've had through the years and hadn't been taught respect for the dead.
Cathi, I've contacted the Merediths and will be going out to make an assessment and
estimate once I return from New Hampshire Tuesday. If possible, please email me a couple
more photos than what are in the article. I'd like to see the extent of the damage
from someone who knows what to look for. (Mrs. Meredith described it, but it wasn't
the type of details I needed.) Fortunately most of the stones are long tablets and I saw
very little concrete used. Hopefully resetting will be easy. I'm prepared to do the
work myself and you are more than welcome to help. The township trustee is not the easiest
to work with but hopefully that will have changed. I have his children in class.
Here is the link for the cemetery:

If the link doesn't work, just go to my INPCRP page (Hendricks County). Springtown
Methodist is in Clay township.

Hi, everyone,
I attempted to email the article that was in today's
Hendricks County Flyer about vandalism at an Amo cemetery,
but I cannot tell if it went through successfully so I am
sending the link this way.? I may be going by there tomorrow
evening or Friday morning, depending upon the weather.?
