The cemetery is right by our church so we do keep it up.? The trustee has told me they
don't own it & our church doesn't either.? I believe that, at one time, there
was a board for the cemetery but that no longer exists.? I know that many stone have sunk
& there are quite a few historical stones.? The earliest I have recorded is early
1800's.? There are many Civil War, WWI, WWII vets there.? I am trying to record the
remaining stones with pictures, etc. but the task is more daunting than I realized!?
Thanks for your help - Brenda

Subject: [INPCRP] FUNDING FOR RESTORATION
Brenda, I cannot speak for others, but we had a huge pioneer cemetery in
Marion County, Indiana that was taken over by the township trustee, where
even the grass wasn't cut. Many people started to bombard the trustee with
e-mails about the condition and heavily vandalized grave markers, and she
set money aside and hired a crew to restore it. Over the next several years
the cemetery is one of the best looking abandoned ones in the state. And I
believe it was all because of the complaints the trustee received. It makes
a difference when you feel like you have a voice in government. Bob

I would be interested to know how funding for restoration is found if their
is no clear owner of the cemetery.? (ie:? Township, State, Church etc. as
owners.)?? If anyone has any ideas I would be interested.? Our "church"
cemetery seems to fall in that category.
Thanks - Brenda
