Walt,
How disheartening! Tullis Chapel was a beautiful cemetery.
I don't understand why the commissioners would say the things they said.
Frankly, you put Fayette Co. on the map!
Looking forward to seeing you in Dunreith on May 11th.

Sharon,
The person hired was not one of the three that the Cemetery Commission
took to
them. What I can not understand is why did they ask the five person
board to take time to sift through 45 applications, have interviews with
eight and narrow it down to three, and just blindly put in their own choice.
Freddie Lakes was the top choice of the Cemetery Commission solely
on his
experience in restoration,he also is the only one beside myself that knows
the location of the 65 cemeteries,on two occasions he ran the
department, once while I was at the AGS Conference in Washington, and once
when I broke my hip.He played a huge part in the restoration of Martin
Cem.,Old Parrott , Tullis Chapel, Silas & Evans,Dawson & Merrick,and
Nulltown Cemetery.
It makes no sense to me. I have heard through the grapevine that a
comments from the Commissioners are things like,"Glad to be rid of
Walters,he created a monster that constantly needed fed". " That I was a
thorn in their side"
Why would they tear down a very active department that was showing
Fayette County leading in something besides unemployment?
Politics Go Figure!
You can count on me to keep an eye on the situation , and they thought I
was a
thorn when I worked for them, believe me I am more than that now!
Wish me and Fayette County"s cemeteries luck!
Walt
