Megan, My relatives are connected to William Hurst and Jefferson Hurst. William was buried
in 1840 in Deer Creek Cemetery. He was maybe the first in our family to be buried in
Indiana. The earlier ones were from Claiborne County Tenn. The stones in this cemetery are
very deteriorated. Sheila

I may have others...
Lee, Thank you for the suggestions. I was just in Greencastle on Friday
doing some research, but ran out of time to go to DePauw. Will have to hit that
up on my next trip. Deer Creek Cemetery does have a lot of old burials. My
gr-gr-gr-gr-gr grandmother, Jane ALBIN was buried there in 1839 and there
are others earlier than her....dating to 1822 or 1823.

Quote from William Gladstone (1809-1897), three-time Prime Minister of England and
Victorian contemporary of Benjamin Disraeli:
"Show me the manner in which a nation or community
cares for its dead and I will measure with mathematical
exactness the tender mercies of its people, their
respect for the laws of the land, and their loyalty
to high ideals."
