Hi John,
I contacted Jeannie at the DNR several weeks ago. There was no plan
filed with the DNR and Jeannie came to Grant county a week or so ago and
checked the construction. She is sending a letter to the landowner and
the county. She said she would keep me informed as to what happens. The
land on the other sides of the cemetery is also for sale.

Greetings to the list......A home is being built immediately next to
Fairview Cemetery in Grant County.....I have heard it is against law to
build closer than 100 feet from Cemetery property.
Can anyone confirm this ?
Thank you,
John Roush

Subject: [INPCRP] Maria Creek Cemetery
Hello the list,
Just wondering if any of the Knox County folks have been back out to
the
Maria Creek cemetery site this year since planting? As you all may
recall, the DNR Conservation Officer got a verbal commitment from the
tenant farmer for no further planting in the cemetery starting this
Spring. Well, Spring has sprung.
I suppose the C.O. has probably followed up on this but it is unlikely
that his report will be made public. I would like to update the
Maria
Creek web page with the current status; particularly if there are
crops in
there again this year!

Drop me a line with any updated information and I'll post it to the
above
site.
Best Regards,

THIS IS A CEMETERY -----
"Lives are commemorated - deaths are recorded - families
are reunited - memories are made tangible - and love is
undisguised. This is a cemetery.
"Communities accord respect, families bestow reverence,
historians seek information and our heritage is thereby enriched.
"Testimonies of devotion, pride and remembrance are carved
in stone to pay warm tribute to accomplishments and to the life -
not the death - of a loved one. The cemetery is homeland for family
memorials that are a sustaining source of comfort to the living.
"A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of
yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery
exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always."
