Donna,
I'd like to suggest that you offer to provide the legislators tours to some
of the cemeteries that most illustrate the problems. If three or more of
you took small groups, they might have a better idea of why you are so
concerned. A picture is worth a thousand words, but there is nothing that
can describe that sense of desolation one feels when walking into an
abandoned and neglected cemetery.
I gave a tour to some county folks a couple of years ago. At one of the
worst cemeteries, the response was dead silence (no pun intended). The word
was quietly spread that they felt they had to leave that place quickly.
They were completely unnerved.
