Dear Madame or Sir,
I am writing on behalf of Heritage Wilmot of Wilmot Township, Ontario,
Canada. We currently have a Pioneer Cemetery in our township with
roughly fifteen marble tombstones that have fallen and been removed
from their original plots. We are looking for information on how to go
about preserving these gravestones for the future. We do not have the
ability to return them to their particular location, so we are seeking
alternate methods of display, protection from the elements, etc. There
has been another cemetery in our district that placed their old
monuments in a large cement monument, but from the research we have
been doing we have been lead to believed that setting them in concrete
is bad for the marble.
We were hoping that someone would have some advice on other methods of
display, or could offer us examples of things that you have done that
have worked.
Any information that you could possibly give us would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jessica Blackwell
