My only problem is that if we go 501c3, we cannot lobby. That is something I
am not willing to give up. IF there would be something as an off-shoot from
the INPCRP list, that is fine - just as long as we can still lobby.

It's a good idea Jeff. Several people who are not on the INPCRP
list have
asked me if there is a cemetery organization they can join. We just need
some people who are willing to tackle the 501c3 process and follow it
through. And of course people on INPCRP willing to join. There has not been
alot response from the list when Brad asked if anyone was interested.

I agree that getting a government fnancial support structure and
asanction from the County is essential to assure that these Cemeteries
get some work done on them.
BUT that is an "IFFY" source of support that may blow with local
politics and the state Government's budget.
I think the Project would be served well by an "alternate" method od
financial support, and a Non-profit status.
That would open the doorss for not only the state and localities to
support the project, but allow for private and public contributions of
funds, labor and equipment usage.
Also there is the whole other universe of getting GRANTS from many
sources.
( I really think that a state-wide Non-profit is the way to go.) (How
about "The Indiana Historial Burials Foundation" Or "Indiana Cemeteries
Preservation Association.")

THIS IS A CEMETERY -----
"Lives are commemorated - deaths are recorded - families
are reunited - memories are made tangible - and love is
undisguised. This is a cemetery.
"Communities accord respect, families bestow reverence,
historians seek information and our heritage is thereby enriched.
"Testimonies of devotion, pride and remembrance are carved
in stone to pay warm tribute to accomplishments and to the life -
not the death - of a loved one. The cemetery is homeland for family
memorials that are a sustaining source of comfort to the living.
"A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of
yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery
exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always."
