With the coming of a new year, we want to wish everyone the very best
and look forward to a mutually successful and prosperous 2001. In
anticipation of several exciting projects during the course of next
year, HAR has broadened to include new hardware and software
technologies as well as improved field equipment and instruments. Many
of the announcements below may also be found on our What's New page
following monthly updates.
HAR will now offer precision site survey to compliment our current GPS
services. The acquisition of a
Leica Total Station will permit accurate topographic and grid coordinate
survey in conjunction with current CAD and GIS mapping capabilities.
Ongoing research involving historic cemetery survey will be expedited
with the new system.
We have also recently purchased a Minelab SD2200D metal detection system
for use on sites exhibiting characteristics outside the range of
conventional metal detectors. The new $3000 instrument is capable of
sensing minute metal artifacts under widely varying ground conditions
and at depths well below the plow zone interface.
HAR has added many new and informative links to our Archaeological
Research Resources page during the past six weeks. In the coming months,
this page will be expanded to include several new sub-categories. As
always, site suggestions are encouraged. Follow this link to utilize
this growing archive of Internet references.
Happy New Year!
