Thanks for your information. I am not very familiar with any of this, so I
appreciate the explanation of how these methods actually work. This land
has been farmed now for probably over 75 years, so I'm not sure if the
ground scraping you mentioned would work as well here. Also, the last
burial was possibly in 1860, so I doubt is probing would reveal
anything. I know my grandmother had her sister that died as a child
removed from our Lewellen cemetery and relocated at the Church yard with
her parents in the 1940's. Jessie died in 1914 and my grandpa and
Great-Uncle did the work while the Health Dept. checked it I have been
told. I don't believe they found much more than some hair and fabric that
they re-buried in a child's coffin. It makes me sad every time I think of
it, but today of all days I am reminded that there is so much more
somewhere else that we have yet to see.
