I'm curious as to the county you're in. I'm in northwest indiana and have
been involved in politics for many years and might be able to help you if I
know the trustee or know some people in that same county that might have a good
relationship with that trustee.

I've been reading the posts for a few months and now feel the need to ask a
question or two. I am aware of a cemetery in my county that was started in
the 1850's. The last burial was before 1900. It has been vandalized and not
taken care of by the township. I've written the trustee for permission to
get a crew to clean up and help restore the cemetery and have not received a
response. After reading through the Department of Natural Resources and the
various sites linked to it, I think my first objective is to get the cemetery
registered with the DNR. I've printed out the form and need to get some help
filling it out but wanted to be sure this is my first step.
I have created a website specifically for this project but have not
publicized it yet as I don't want to irritate the trustee. I've told them I plan
on
fundraising for any money needed to complete this project. I also have the
backing (not financial) of our local historical society.
I'll save my other question for another time. Thanks for any input you have.
