Janet: This is great!. Congratulations on your efforts.
You might look into contacting some of the local area monument
companies. I have good luck with one local here. They
sometimes
help me for nothing because they know the local cemeteries and
think we are going good work fixing them up. They might do
this for you. Good luck

Subject: Re: [INPCRP] not all cemeteries get moved - Military Stone
Hi everyone!
A year or so ago, I had my gr-gr-grandfather's stone replaced in West
Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson. His name was misspelled, and it listed
him in the wrong regiment. I, of course, hesitated for a long time
because the old stone was original and authentic. The caretaker wanted to
try to have both of them on there at the same time, but couldn't. But I
was really surprised. The new one was very much like the old - instead of
just a blackened outline of the shield and name, it was carved in with the
name in relief, just like the old one.
It was a very easy process. I had a little help in Anderson from both the
caretaker and someone from the Sons of Union Veterans. But I filled out
the form and sent that, along with only his discharge (which had not been
included in his pension records, but something my mother had) to the
caretaker for them to fill out their portion.
Right now, I'm working on getting a stone for a Civil War veteran in my
late husband's family, buried here in Ohio. My only set-back is the
cemetery will charge a fee to set the stone. So I'm currently saving
money and also trying to see if any local veterans' group wants to get
involved, so that this veteran's grave can finally be marked!
