I too am working on a pioneer cemetery in Southern Illinois and would
appreciate ANY & ALL suggestions for generating interest and volunteers to
assist.
The cemetery is not abandoned, and has a cemetery board but they are not up
to speed on the right way to restore and I am having a hard time convincing
them that the way they want to do the work is not the right way and will
actually do more harm than good. They want to use cement and just lay the
stones down in the cement and not even try to become educated in the proper
techniques to restore the stones and the cemetery.
We have family buried there and have hired a professional (Mark Davis) to
come in and repair the stones that we found buried as well as broken stones.
But I would like to clean and repair the rest of the cemetery over time as
well as educate the cemetery board on the proper ways to restore and clean
the markers.
Many thanks in advance for your time and assistance and suggestions.

Morning Bob.
It would be nice if our list members can share their ideas.
I'm the gal that pretty much works for free and I recruit
volunteers for each workdays. It is the education you need
to get started the right way. Maybe you and some others
can attend our workshops first. The supplies are not
that expensive. Most everything is under $100.00 to start
except the hoist. See the toolbox page for Mortar mix and epoxies.
It takes time and dedication to work one row at a time.
If your hiring someone to do the work, that is a big difference.

Subject: [INPCRP] Cemetery restoration
Hello all and let me first apologize for the slightly off topic post. It is
about cemetery restoration but in Ohio. As you are well aware Ohio is
decades behind Indiana when it comes to care for cemetaries.
My question to you is. I am attempting to generated interest and funding for
undertaking the restoration of some of the Cemeteries in my home county.
Does any one have any suggestions as to how to achieve this.
I already know who I would like to do the work and have already had
discussions with them about putting on a class in my county. But I would
also like to use them if I generate the funds required.
thank you
Bob Little
