Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
There is an old cemetery in Madison County, Chesterfield Indiana, Ottebein
Cemetery, which is in very bad shape. It's been getting worse for years, and I
was fortunate enough to run into the town trustee for the property, and he is
interested in finding a group to restore it. Is anyone on this site from
Madison County? I would love to help clean it up and restore it, but it is
going to be a really big project.

Why not try petitioning the District Attorney now with requests for severe
prosecution coming in from all over the state? Maybe then the DA's will
know they are not working in a vacuum and may be less likely to let things
like this slide under the radar.

I'm absolutely dying to find out how this turns out, if arrests are
imminent then its going to be interesting to see if this lingers as
little more than B misdemeanor.
I bet they get receive a public defender,
consume lots of tax money and practically walk away. I trust you will
keep track of this. I realize that vandals strike at lots of things,
but gravestones ought to be the crime that gets them some very handed
treatment.

I was finally able to get to the web-site tonight. I don't know why, I didn't do anything different. It looks really great.
Brad, Thank You so much for taking on this project. This will be very helpful in current efforts to tackle the cemeteries on the Hall of Shame and when we go to the next session of the Legislature.
And Scott, Thank You for starting the INPCRP. We are making a difference.

Kudos to all who participated! These are wonderful testimonials to the
efforts of cemetery preservationists in your state. And what a wonderful
thing for the paper to have a column like this so that people can express
their thanks and acknowledgement for kind deeds and gentle people.
Keep up the good work. The best kind of "advertising" is word of mouth.
Where some people are put off by articles that seem only to complain of a
situation, they are more likely to read things that praise others for their
work. It says a great deal about the INPCRP membership's dedication to
their cause.

The Johnson County Daily Journal has a section on the editorial page called
Hearts and Darts. Hearts are for people to thank someone...
Two hearts appeared in today's paper...
- Heartfelt thanks to Brad Manzenberger of Johnson County Indiana Pioneer
Cemeteries Restoration Project, John “Walt” Walters of Graveyard Groomers
from Connersville and the many volunteers who helped restore monuments and
stones in Greenlawn Cemetery on July 10.
After vandals disheartened many of us by their actions, you have restored

signed: Franklin park board, cemetery staff and park staff
- Hearts to all the volunteers who helped repair vandalized gravestones in
Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Special hearts to Brad and Angela
Manzenberger for coordinating the effort. As historian of Grace United

in the community, even those stones without local families.

Brad, Whatever anyone thinks they can do to help sounds great to me.
We all have a stake in this. A few people have been putting alot of
time into this, I regret not knowing most of them, at least yet.
Perhaps we will be reading about them soon.

Please anyone on the list that knows of a burial site getting farmed
over or otherwise taking a beating whether it be four wheelers or
whatever, please contact
Ruth.Holladay(a)indystar.com
with the location, account of the happenings and whatever else you can
offer. Sites that appear to be in eminent
danger of destruction where its pretty obvious are what we need most.
Please, please contact her, some of us are going to meet her personally,
it could very well be you and your story.

Thank you, Brad, for taking on such a monumental task. The new address is
very easy to remember. Looks great.
Thank you so much.
