Angela,
I'm following your efforts on H. B. 1441. There is nothing I can add to what
others, including your self are saying, so I am staying quiet. I will send an
E-mail to the legislature if and when it comes time. I have not quit on
cemeteries, I have only slowed down since I got over my heart valve replacement
that was performed. (Cut your Heart open, go inside and put in a metal valve)
About the time I had recuperated the weather had turned bad. I am going to start
over in the spring as determined as ever.
Since I am staying inside, I am working on my family Genealogy, The
Surnames, besides BREUEL, BROIL, BROYLES, BRYLES, and last but not least
BRILES. I wondered if you said you were a descendant of the WILHITES, or WILHOITS.
If so there is no doubt if I went forward down to now I would find we are
branches on the same tree.
I have found as many, or more of the above spellings related to my
descendant Johannas BREUEL than there are BRILES. A lot of WILHITES, WILHOITS
settled particularly heavy in MONTGOMERY CO. INDIANA and Clay Co.. Illinois.
I don't know if, or who you are related to, but Central Indiana on North was
very heavily settled by them. Have you ever worked on your Genealogy. If so
have you had any luck. I have 7,469 names as of right now. This includes our
family names as well as those who married the women and all of the children.
Would you know your GGGGrandfather's name. I would like to see if I have it. I
don't have all of the WILHITES, there are to many. My computer already says I
have 568 pages to print out now. I am still going, I don't guess I'll ever quit
in this lifetime. Okay, sorry to be so long, when I get started I can't Quit.
Good Luck on the Bill, I'm with you.
Sincerely, A possible cousin (All Descendants in our family claim to be
Cousins)
Jack
Hmmm....
Sounds like a good time for a letter to the Editor.....

Re: Bill to raise funds for Pioneer Cemeteries on hold.
Editor:
I look at this issue from a citizenry standpoint. First the city fathers
encourage the "settlers" - today that means they approve residential
development projects. Then they encourage businesses to move to town, they
create schools and churches come to the newly developing "village."
Everyone is happy. Families are settling in, businesses are operating, and
ministers are preaching, marrying young couples, baptizing babies,
and....officiating at funerals and burying the dead.
That's what happened when the stalwart pioneers settled Indiana. That the
cemeteries where many were buried were not considered public lands is beyond
me.
Now those same graveyards that contain the mortal remains of the hardiest of
your Hoosiers are to be cast aside once again because the CITY FATHERS (read
state and local governments) failed to see that these sacred places of
repose deserved even one modicum of protection over the years that would
follow, and your current legislators can't see fit to raise the cost of a
death certificate by a fraction of a dollar so that all of the people of
Indiana may help to preserve those burial grounds, amazes me.
Those who might be thinking of dying in Indiana today might want to think
twice. Who will help ensure your graves won't be molested by unfeeling
farmers, corporations, developers, and, yes, state transportation agencies?
Looks like it won't be the Legislature.
Sincerely,
Sue Silver, State Coordinator
