I have sent a small amount of money, but as we don't know just how much it cost, she
needs to let us know.
As for the Bolins in Hawkins Co., Tn. The Bolins are referred to there as white Bolins or
Red Bolins. My Bolin was Christopher Bolin, who was born in Hawkins Co., Tn. in 1787.
His Parents were James and Sally Blevins Bolin. There is a possibility that Sally was
Cherokee. And of course there is the old Pochantas theory. I find Hawkins Co., Tn. to be
a very hard Co. to work in. They are not very cooperative. They have had several books
stolen several years ago. The first time I went, they locked me, a piece of paper and a
pencil in a room with a large window in it, that you knocked on when you wanted out. The
2nd trip was not much better.
Now as for DNA. I had my brother do the test for the Edwards line. He did the 35 or 37
markers and it came back within 4 of Johnny Edwards, wo is from the line of Abel and Mary
Potts Edwards of Va. and finally Washington Co., Tn. But the funny thing was he matched a
Garrett closer than Johnny's. We have no Garretts in the family or did not think we
did. The match with Johnny makes me think as I have always that we are from the same
Edwards line, mainly in Sullivan and Washington Co., Tn. I believe Thomas Edwards, who is
one my brickwall, and his wife Elizabeth Peoples were married in Sullivan Co., Tn. The
"damm Yankees" burnt down their courthouse during the Civil War. In the Morgan
County censuses their is a John Edwards living next door to Thomas and Elizabeth, he is
not their son, because I can trace his lineage and he is not his brother because when
John's father died he named a son Thomas and my Thomas was already dead. I believe
them to be cousins. Any info on any of this will be appreciated. They lived in Morgan
Co., In.
But please let's keep the site up. Everywhere you go you see Ancestry advertised. I
finally had to join, and must admit I use it a lot.
