Randi,
How would I go about getting a copy of that photo of the 82nd and the
listing of soldiers? Charles Isom is my kin. Thanks!

Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Progress, May 30, 1867, p. 3.
The citizens of Owen County held a public meeting at Spencer for the
organization of a vigilance committee in each township in order to better
secure the people against violence and robbery and for the ferreting out of
crime. The organization is now perfected and a stock up hemp rope laid in.

The Fall 2011 issue of the OWEN COUNTY, INDIANA, MAGAZINE OF HISTORY AND
GENEALOGY ON HISTORY AND GENEALOGY includes several picture of Haltom
family
members contributed by Deanna (Haltom) Collins. Several months ago while
researching at the Monroe County Public Library in Bloomington, Indiana, I
met a man who was researching the Chaney family. He joined the INMONROE
Rootsweb list, but I don't know if he is still a subscriber. Anyway,
among the pictures noted there is a picture of Roann Ruth Chaney Haltom who
was born September 8, 1847. This picture may be of interest particularly
to
him.
