The Owen County Leader is available on microfilm at the Owen County Public
Library in Spencer, Indiana. All of the events noted on page 1 of the
newspaper was well reported and some at length. Of those events noted on
February 4, I scanned the entire 8 pages; in the subsequent issues noted
below I only scanned the first page.
I was prompted to check the newspapers because I'm working to compile a
database of funeral records 1925-1928 and the legibility on the original,
handwritten record was often so poor that I needed verification of the name.
A significant number of the deaths were not reported in the Owen County
Death Record Index or found in cemetery index. Watch for the database
online at the Indiana Genealogical Society website.
