I have been reading these posts with interest. I don't think any of us
would have gotten the info we have without the help from someone at some
time. I have never had anyone not tell me Thank You and I have never not
answered an E-mail with a Thank You. I want to say I have meet some
fascinating people through this. People will go out of their way to look up
info in their area for you, even tho. that family is of no interest to them
because they just like to help.
My problem comes from those who I send info to who put it on line and quote
me quite well. However, they have transposed dates, put in wrong names and
gave me the credit. Then I have been unable to get them to look at their
data or change it because it is such a hassle. Usually I don't catch it for
a while. Many people see their posting and get the info crediting me with
the same wrong info. All I can say is be extra careful that when you put in
someone's info in your data base you proof read and be sure you are getting
it the way they had it. Also, please do not put in living members of your
family and never add them to the info you put on line.

Subject: [INOWEN] Manners
Hi: I always thought that it was just good manners to thank
people
for their info. An elderly lady taught me all the particulars on
genealogy, years ago. Her main advice was that I was to thank everyone
when I heard from them, even if I didn't receive any info from them;
and, always send a retun envelope with my address and a stamp to those I
ask for info.
I have several people in OwenCo., Ind.. Wiould love to hear from any of
you that might know something of these people. Osa Bean; Jonathon
Massey and wife Frances Davis; Hootens, especially children of Frances
Hooten, Sylvanis, Hestle, and Thomas Tackitt. Thank you. Joan H.
