Thanks, Bill. I really know nothing about this person, including the usual
spelling of his name. I have only run across him in the marriage record and
in one census report--hence the question of his given name as those two
reports don't agree. The Bales name is my line. I was hoping that there
might be some connection with your people, but I think with the research you
have done, it is not at all likely. I do appreciate your filling me in on
the history of the Ranand/Renard name and how far back it goes in that form.
Thanks again,
Connie

Connie, Anything's possible, but I have traced my family back to 1771 and
the spelling of the name RANARD carries through to then. The only variation
that I am aware of is the spelling RENARD. I have not run across the others
names you mention in my work (play). There is actually supposed to have
been a Jane RANARD in North Carolina in the early 1600's.

Reinard, listed for John D. or William and Mary E. Bales. I don't know
anything about John D. or William, and I would like to determine the
correct
given name and learn more. Is there a chance he connects to anyone in
your
Ranard family?
Thanks for any help.

Which branch of the Ranard's are you related to? Nancy Butler Ranard and
Joel Ranard were related to my ancestor Sarah Butler Wood. Nancy and
Sarah
were sisters. Their parents were James and Hannah Harrah Butler.
Nancy
and
Joel are buried in the Butler cemetery near Whitehall, Indiana along
with
their children.
I have gotten away from genealogy until the new tv show came on and just
started getting back into it but was wondering if we were related?

Debbie,
Well said. I have actually lost a friend because I had to tell him to
take
me off his mailing list with all of the hate mail. I am going to
save
your
email so that I can remember how you addressed the issue, it was so
well
written.
I haven't been active the past few years in working on the "Ranard"
lineage,
but enjoy being on the mailing list.
Thank you so much. Bill
