I asked my friend who has lived in that area all her life. She says she
has never heard of the campground you described. She and another friend are
wondering if the area you remember could be the one below.

"Now down on Fish Creek Road there is the Owen / Putnam State Forest
and it has one tombstone in it. It would lay about half way between
McCormick State Park and Lieber State Park." Betty Herbert, president of the
Clay County Genealogical Society checked this out for you.
I have been there. It is down at the bottom of the dam and the river runs
thru it. It has wonderful wading area and picnic tables etc. It was shady on
the hot day we were there, but we did enjoy the afternoon spent there. It
is indeed a sweet place to camp!

Sweet Owen used to be located between Lieber state recreation area
and
Jordan Villiage (owen co.). I don't know what the name of the road is
other
than one time it was called 43 and other times old people called it
cunot
road or cataract rd or cataract-cunot. not sure if it is still there it
has
been a long time
