Hi Kathy,
Thank you for this. This confirms for me that there was likely more than
one person named Thomas J. Harris in the Owen-Monroe County area at the same
time. The one in this obituary would have been born about 10 years before
the guy for whom I am looking, and his parents are not the parents of my
guy. But, this also helps solve another mystery. Monroe County, Indiana
has two marriages listed for men named Thomas Harris, one of them to Louisa
Reeves. Now, at least I know that this is not the couple I need, and I just
need to figure out now if the other marriage for Thomas Harris is for the
same guy (it is a few years earlier) or for a different guy--which I think
is likely the case. And, is that other guy the one who lived in Owen County
and Marion County and then back in Owen, or is it the guy in the obituary
you sent. It sounds as if, from your excerpts, that the one who also lived
in Marion County was probably not the one in the obituary you found since it
says he was a lifelong resident of Owen County.
I really appreciate this. Thank you so much for sending it.
Connie

You show that he was residing in Owen County in 1880 and 1910, but in Marion
County during 1900.
Do you know where he was living in 1920 or after? I will do a little
checking on some of the websites I use.
I don't find him listed in the death records on my site for 1880-1920 in
Owen County but I will keep looking and get back with you.

Can anyone tell me if there is a death record/obituary for Thomas
Jefferson Harris in Owen County? Census records indicate that he was
born between
1831 and 1834 in Tennessee (but he may have been born in Kentucky) and
that he was living in Spencer in Owen County in 1880 and 1910 and in
in
Indianapolis, Marion County, in 1900. I believe he was the son of George
and Elizabeth (Johnson) Harris. He married Nancy E. Childers; their
children were Rudolph Harris, Estella D. Harris, Clara Harris, Pearl
Harris and Winnie Harris.
I am interested in a death record or obituary to further pinpoint his
date and place of birth and to confirm that his parents are George and
Elizabeth
(Johnson) Harris. I don't have a death date for him, but believe it
to be between 1910 and 1930, and probably between 1910 and 1920.
Thomas Jefferson Harris is a brother to my 2nd great grandmother, Mary
Matilda Harris. Other siblings of Thomas Jefferson and Mary Matilida
are Miles Wesley Harris, Sarah E. Harris, George W. Harris, Martha J.
Harris and Paris Harris.
Any information or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I live in
NC and can't get to local Owen County records at the present time.
